Homework is always a concept taught in class at least a week prior. It is also reviewed with the class before being sent home. You will not always need to sit with your child and do homework one on one with them, but it will be extremely beneficial to read the directions and review your child's homework when it is done. This will help you understand where your child stands on the concepts being taught in class. Homework should not be a time for tears! If your child is really struggling with his/her homework please send it back with a note about where the confusion may be. I am happy to go over it with them the next day.
Homework Schedule
Monday:

Wednesday:
Thursday:
Reading Log: Your child is expected to read 15-20 minutes a night. At the beginning of the school year you (or another adult/sibling) may read to your child. As the year progresses the first grader should begin to read aloud. A reading log is sent home for you to document the time. When the log is complete, send it back to school for a homework pass!
